Every peer-reviewed research article appearing in Deep Resources Engineering (DRE) will be published open access. This means that the article is universally and freely accessible via the internet in perpetuity, in an easily readable format immediately after publication. To provide open access, DRE has an open access fee (also known as an Article Processing Charge, APC) which needs to be paid by the authors or on their behalf e.g. by their research funder or institution. The open access publication fee for DRE is USD 1000, plus taxes. All APCs for articles submitted to DRE before the 31 December 2028 will be fully waived. Northeastern University pays for the publishing costs incurred by the journal.

  

A CC user license manages the reuse of the article. Articles will be published under one of the following licenses according to author's choice:

  

Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY):

Allows users to copy, to create extracts, abstracts and new works from the Article, to alter and revise the Article and to make commercial use of the Article (including reuse and/or resale of the Article by commercial entities), provided the user gives appropriate credit (with a link to the formal publication through the relevant DOI), provides a link to the license, indicates if changes were made and the licensor is not represented as endorsing the use made of the work. Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs (CC BY-NC-ND):

Allows users to copy and distribute the Article, provided this is not done for commercial purposes and further does not permit distribution of the Article if it is changed or edited in any way, and provided the user gives appropriate credit (with a link to the formal publication through the relevant DOI), provides a link to the license, and that the licensor is not represented as endorsing the use made of the work.
