Associate Prof. Jun Zhao's research is focused on rock rheology, safety monitoring, and disaster control for deep engineering. His academic contributions include the development of a series of true triaxial testing equipment for hard rocks, the development of a long-term intelligent integrated monitoring device for on-site rock masses and the elaboration of time-dependent fracturing mechanism of hard rocks in deep engineering. He is the secretary general of the National Technical Committee on Geotechnical Mechanics of Standardization Administration of China. He has received the Rocha medal from the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM), the Future Leaders Program from the American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA), and Innovation Talent Support Program from the China Postdoctoral Foundation.
